Salt - Rosewood London

SALT SERIES ON SHOW AT THE BEAUTIFUL ROSEWOOD LONDON

8 AUGUST - 30 SEPTEMBER 2015

Nine pieces from Tommy's Salt series are on show in the beautiful surroundings of Rosewood London for two months.

British photographer, Tommy Clarke, grew up near the English town of Bournemouth in Dorset. The coastal setting sparked a deep interest in the interaction between water and land and how humans connect to the shoreline. However, it wasn't until he was living in Sydney that the 28-year-old photographer embarked on his first aerial shoot over Bondi Beach. Clarke, who now lives above his studio in Brixton, uses helicopters and small planes to get the perfect perspective on his subjects and landscapes below.

Tommy’s stunning photographs reveal a new aerial perspective of some of the most beautiful locations on earth, including France, Mexico and Australia. Tommy’s latest series – Salt – is displayed on Rosewood London’s iconic Italian Grand Pavonazzo marble staircase. The nine photographs were shot in the Western United States flying over Utah and San Francisco's salt lakes.

The pieces are not retouched; different textures appearing from where the salt has been extracted. The hues are a product of the varying salinity in each lake, resulting in the striking colour contrasts. The continual shift in salt levels and regular extraction process creates a landscape that is unique to the moment that it was captured.
